Winter Chickadee painting

So winter is just around the corner and I felt it was time to paint some winter birds, and what can be more wintery than chickadees! I decided I wanted to make the paintings on the smaller side since chickadees are so small. These two are 6X4 watercolors on arches 140 lb cold pressed paper. I am really happy with how they turned out! Both are for sale in my etsy shop. To visit my shop click here

Watercolor blue budgie

My brand new baby parakeets were the inspiration for this painting. They're names are Pecan and Truffles (I was into cafe themed names when I got them). This painting is a 5X7 watercolor. It's available on my shop here

Watercolor Hummingbird

I was so excited when I saw a hummingbird for the first time in my garden last year. They are so small it's incredible. For a moment I thought it was some kind of a dragonfly. This painting is for sale on my etsy shop here

House Finch Bird painting

I have seen these little birds flying around in my yard and thought they would make a beautiful painting. To be honest I didn't even know what they were called. With a little research on the trusty internet it turn out they are house finches. 5X7 painting on etsy here

Sparrows in my garden

My absolute favorite bird is the sparrow. Thankfully a large flock of sparrows lives in my garden. These are some photos I have used as reference when painting sparrows. They are not any good as far as photography goes (I took them through a dirty window), but they are great for reference purposes!

Sweet Mourning Dove

A pair of doves made their nest in a pine tree in my garden this year. I have been watching their little ones grow all summer with much joy. I love the softness of the dove. I hope I captured their innocence in this painting. https://www.etsy.com/listing/107070013/watercolor-bird-art-dove-bird-painting

Watercolor Quail Painting

I can never stay away from painting birds for too long. I always try to paint other subjects but they are just so inspirational to me. Quails are such unique and beautiful birds, the feathers on their heads are almost comical. This painting is for sale here

My family has always had parakeets as pets. My first was a little blue parakeet named Little Jet. He was named for the sound his wings made when he would fly. We also had a green parakeet appropriately named Green Bird. This painting really reminds me of him. This original painting is a 5X7 watercolor painting done on arches 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper. You can buy it on my etsy shop here

Watercolor Blue Bird

I adore painting birds. With spring in the air and the birds in my garden happily singing away, I was inspired to paint this fluffy little blue bird. I wonder if she really is fluffy or she just ate too many blueberries? Either way she is a cutie! The original is for sale on my etsy shop here
